Living Learning Communities

A Living Learning 社区 or LLC is a community of students living within a residential floor or residence hall who are connected through an academic major or field of study. The LLC is directed by a faculty or staff member who organizes educational and social activities for LLC members to bolster student engagement and academic success.  

These live-in communities foster greater interaction among students allowing for them to make friends easier and become more involved in social and learning activities. Research has shown that LLCs have proven beneficial to students who participate by enhancing their overall well-being and improving academic performance through 支持 mentoring by staff, resulting in higher retention, graduation rates and GPAs.  

Eligibility to participate in an LLC and requirements are specific to the type of LLC students wish to live in. Carroll currently offers LLC programs that include the 荣誉项目 and Nursing.

2023-2024 academic year applications to be considered for an LLC are due by:

  • April 1, 2023 for first-year students

After these dates applications will be considered based on availability.

All incoming first-year students who accept an offer to join the Honors program will live in A. Paul Jones Honors Hall, Carroll’s Honors Living and Learning 社区 (LLC). 作为会员, you will benefit from living and working closely with other Honors students who share the same desire to cultivate and grow their talents and potential for leadership. 作为一个社区, you will engage in two of your Carroll education’s foundational courses (CCS100 and ENG170), share living experiences, 一起学习, 互相指导, and have exclusive access to special events designed specifically for Honors and your LLC. This will transform your residential space at Carroll into an active, 支持, and exciting place to live and learn as a member of a dynamic group of like-minded students!

All first-year students who accept an offer to join the Honors program will be automatically housed in A. Paul Jones Honors Hall (unless they receive a residency waiver).

护理有限公司

Incoming freshman who are nursing students may choose to live in the Nursing Living Learning 社区. This community is all about caring for the “whole” student – mind, body and spirit – by offering social, service-oriented and professional development activities.  Students will make new friends and reduce stress during Yoga, Pilates and Meditation classes as well as participate in seminars on wellness topics, such as how to eat healthy at college.

  • All first-year nursing students – pre nursing and direct entry, are eligible to participate in the 护理有限公司. 
  • Participation in the 护理有限公司 is for a full academic year.
  • Students will live in a designated residence hall along with a roommate who is also part of the 护理有限公司.
  • Those students who are unable to live on campus can still participate in the 护理有限公司.

First-year nursing students should indicate interest in the 护理有限公司 as part of the housing application process.
